About Me
Hi, I’m Paul Lennane, a business development consultant based in Auckland.
Early Career and Growth in Sales
I started in sales in the pharmaceutical industry and worked my way up to Business Development Director at Telecom (now Spark), where I spent a number of years winning major accounts like Auckland Airport and 3M.
International Business Development Experience
In 2009, an international opportunity led me to Papua New Guinea, where I drove major revenue growth for Digicel Pacific, a global telecommunications company, for seven years. I had the privilege of working across various countries, including PNG, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga and Myanmar.
Working for Digicel and facing high-pressure targets and demanding board members hightened my skills to find new opportunities. No wasn’t an answer, and if you weren’t doing it, someone else was.
Country Director Role at Airswift International
In 2019, I was approached by Airswift International – a global human asset organisation and landed a significant leadership role as their PNG Country Director. Managing a team of 49 talented individuals and overseeing 500 contractors, I faced the ultimate leadership test when COVID hit.
I had to innovate and generate new revenue streams while borders closed and businesses shut down. Working as a team, we adapted and navigated through it.
Launching Bigger is Better: Helping Kiwi Businesses Grow
After 12 years of driving growth abroad and gaining invaluable skills, I returned to New Zealand and launched Bigger is Better in 2022, helping Kiwi businesses from small startups to large corporations, across New Zealand to achieve growth.
My mission has always been to build relationships with people and organisations before they need you. It was through this mindset that I helped a small ad agency win the rebrand bid for the Port of Tauranga, New Zealand’s largest port.
Current Endeavors in Commercial Partnerships
My advice isn’t from a “been there, done that” perspective. I’m still actively engaged in the industry. As the Head of Commercial Partnerships for a leading sports organisation in Auckland, I meet with decision-makers every day and navigate the same challenges you face. From hearing “we don’t have the budget” to “try again in six months,” I skilfully maintain relationships and turn them into opportunities.
I leverage this knowledge to ensure you best position your business, secure crucial meetings, and build long-term relationships for growth.
